Horseback rides in between africa's animals

Riding a horse, that is the ideal way to encounter both big and small game.
The farm is home to hundreds of miles of meandering trails and two riverbeds, the Swakop and Otjiruze. These rivers are almost always dry and imprinted with beautiful shapes and forms left behind by the flow of the water.

Driving through for the day, are welcome to stop over and join us on an excursion which includes refreshments and a barbecue in the bush savannah (on prior arrangement only).

It is also possible to do multiple day trips on horseback. The route entails travelling to a neighboring farm, viewing Zebra, Giraffe, Wildebeest, Kudu, Oryx, Warthog, Springbok, Steenbok and various other wildlife en route. Being on horseback renders you nearly “invisible” to the wildlife, which increases the possibility of sometimes seeing leopard and cheetah.

At Katjapia we use Arabian horses for our trails. They are experienced cattle-working and endurance horses. A couple of weekends each year the horses do an endurance ride of 30 or 60 km with Katjapia-friends from Namibia or Europe, accompanied by Katjapia’s owners, AB or Tasha van Wyk who is also an experienced riders.
